Charles Anyiam, the Los Angeles-based Nigerian journalist and editor, has received international recognition as his debut book, How to Win All the Time – Power Quotes to Live By, was selected for the Author Spotlight Programme of the Berlin International Bookclub in Germany.
Released about a week ago, the book is available on Amazon and is the first in a series of wisdom-focused publications under the Charles Anyiam Project (CAP), the creative writing division of The African Times Publications Inc.
The Berlin International Bookclub said the book caught its attention for treating wisdom as something readers can examine and put to use in their everyday lives.
In a letter to Anyiam signed on behalf of the organisers by Tatiana Schirinzi, the club pointed to the range of subjects covered in the book, from character, leadership and relationships to resilience, purpose, prosperity and decision-making in difficult times.
The organisers also highlighted Anyiam’s treatment of mindset and its place in achieving meaningful victories. They said the ideas would speak to readers dealing with uncertainty, difficult choices, adversity, relationships and personal ambitions.
Anyiam welcomed the recognition, describing it as an honour and a source of fresh encouragement for his work in the wisdom genre.
“On behalf of my team, I am humbled by the honour and recognition of my debut book,” he said.
“This is actually the first in the series of books in the wisdom genre to be published by the Charles Anyiam Project (CAP), the creative writing division of The African Times Publications Inc.
“I am also working on other books in different fields. With this recognition by the Berlin Bookclub, I am doubly encouraged.”
Anyiam’s literary venture comes against the backdrop of a long career in journalism and public affairs.
Based in Los Angeles, California, he is editor-in-chief of The African Times/USA, a US national news journal that has been published for 35 years. He is an alumnus of the original Daily Times of Nigeria and has worked as a media analyst, adviser, investor representative, public speaker and diplomat.
He also chairs the Africa Achievement Awards committee, which organises the Africa-themed event traditionally held at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
In business and policy circles, Anyiam is a managing partner of the Africa Consult Group, the investment and think-tank arm of The African Times Publications Inc., publishers of The African Times/USA.
With his first book now receiving attention from an international book club in Germany, Anyiam is extending a career rooted in Nigerian journalism into the wider world of ideas and publishing.
