Football gave way to faith at Old Trafford on Saturday as thousands gathered inside Manchester United’s 74,000-capacity stadium for the NSPPD UK Prayer Conference, led by Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze.
Organised by Streams of Joy International, the gathering brought together believers from across the United Kingdom and beyond for a day centred on prayer, worship and fellowship.
The significance of the venue was unmistakable. Old Trafford, one of the world’s most recognisable football stadiums, became the setting for a large-scale Christian gathering as worshippers filled sections of the famous Manchester venue.
Pastor Eze was joined by several prominent Nigerian gospel ministers, including Mercy Chinwo, Dunsin Oyekan, Sunmisola Agbebi and Kaestrings, who were part of the worship and ministry programme.
Interest in the conference had already become evident before the gathering took place. Although admission was free, attendees were encouraged to register in advance because available spaces were limited. Demand reportedly exceeded the available capacity, with claims that the event was fully booked.
The large turnout reflected the international reach of the NSPPD prayer gathering, with worshippers travelling from different parts of Britain and beyond to participate.
