Nigerian engineer, entrepreneur and technology thought-leader Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe is behind the Contisx Phone, a cryptographically secured blockchain-powered communication device designed to enhance digital security for individuals, businesses and governments.
The phone emerged from an effort to extend the blockchain infrastructure developed for Contisx Securities Exchange into secure communications. It provides end-to-end encrypted messaging, voice calls and video communication, with cryptographic protection designed to prevent eavesdropping and tampering.
The Contisx Phone is currently available for preorder, with shipments scheduled to begin on October 1, 2026.

Ekekwe brings an extensive background in engineering, innovation and technology entrepreneurship to the project. He holds two doctoral degrees and four master’s degrees, including a PhD in engineering from Johns Hopkins University in the United States. He graduated as the best student in his class at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
During his time at Analog Devices Corporation, Ekekwe co-designed an accelerometer used in early versions of the iPhone. He also invented and patented a robotic system whose rights were acquired by the United States Government.
Beyond engineering, he is the founder of Tekedia Capital, an investment platform supporting technology-driven businesses, and coordinates Tekedia Institute, a business education institution. He is also Chairman of Fasmicro Group, which oversees multiple startups and business entities.
A TED Fellow, IBM Global Entrepreneur and World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Ekekwe has held professorships at Carnegie Mellon University and Babcock University. His work in innovation and business strategy has also earned international recognition.
