Lagos Invites Event Organisers to Join Statewide Festive Calendar

Event organisers across Lagos have an opportunity to bring their festivals, performances, exhibitions and recreational activities into the state’s official tourism calendar, following a call for submissions by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The initiative seeks to connect independently organised events with the state’s tourism promotion efforts, giving selected programmes greater public visibility while creating a more coordinated schedule of celebrations throughout the year.

Announcing the initiative on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at her office in Alausa, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said the Ministry wanted to ensure that seasonal activities across the state were better coordinated and accessible to wider audiences.

“Lagos thrives on celebrations. As a Ministry, we want to harmonise all seasonal activities happening across the State to ensure visibility, wider participation and economic benefits for our stakeholders. This platform will allow event owners to leverage the State’s promotional machinery and reach a larger audience,” she said.

The programme will accommodate activities organised around Christmas, New Year, Easter, Eid, Independence celebrations and other cultural seasons. Its geographical reach will span Lagos's five divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.

Organisers can submit proposals for festivals and carnivals, concerts and live shows, theatre and comedy performances, beach and waterfront activities, food, fashion and lifestyle fairs, art exhibitions, cultural showcases, family and community gatherings, and sporting or recreational events.

Beyond inclusion in the official Lagos Tourism Calendar, selected programmes will receive promotion through the Ministry’s digital platforms. Organisers may also be considered for collaboration and logistical support, where applicable.

The call is open to event organisers, promoters, creatives, hospitality operators, cultural institutions and other relevant stakeholders interested in presenting activities that contribute to Lagos’s tourism, entertainment and cultural offerings.

Each application must contain the name of the event or activity, a brief description and its objectives, proposed date or dates and venue, target audience, and the organiser’s contact details.

Completed submissions should be forwarded to the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture at The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Block 10. Applications may also be sent to any of the following email addresses: olajumokejames@gmail.com, bolanleasuquo@gmail.com and senimaks@yahoo.co.uk. Enquiries can be made by calling 08023232068.

The Ministry has not announced a fixed closing date. Submissions will remain open ahead of each seasonal period, although organisers are advised to apply early to allow adequate time for planning and publicity.

The initiative positions Lagos’s existing calendar of festive, cultural and entertainment activities for greater coordination, with the state seeking to reinforce its standing as a leading African destination for tourism, culture, entertainment and hospitality.
