Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara Olaoluwa — Youngest Ph.D. Holder in Africa
Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara Olaoluwa, the current youngest Ph.D. holder in Africa, was born on the September 27, 1989 into the family of Pastor & Mrs. Olaoluwa, in Bangui, Central African Republic [CAR]. Commencing his primary education at the age of 5, he progressively got four double-promotions in his pre-tertiary education (between Primary 5 and Higher School).
At the age of 14 years, he became the youngest student to pass the French Baccalaureate, Science (HSC or ‘A’ Levels) at age 14 in the CAR. At 15, he proceeded to the University of Bangui through direct entry — graduating three years later with First Class Bachelor degrees in Mathematics and Physics respectively. He ran both courses concurrently.
Similarly, at 19, he obtained two Masters’ degrees [with Distinction] in Mathematics and Physics at the same University.
Back home in Nigeria, Olaoluwa undertook the National Youth Services with the Department of Mathematics, University of Lagos, and subsequently enrolled for the Ph.D. programme in the same department. He graduated, in a record two years and ten months, as the Best Overall Graduating Ph.D. Student of the University of Lagos (2013) and the Youngest Ph.D. holder in Mathematics in Africa. The young genius had the best Ph.D. thesis.
Dr. Olaoluwa is currently a Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, University of Lagos. Aside from grooming a number of award-winning students for national and international competitions, he has authored several papers in learned journals in America and Europe. His current research interest is Analysis and Optimization.
