Apapa Customs Sets New National Record With N304bn October Revenue

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has set a new national benchmark after announcing a record revenue collection of N304 billion for October 2025, the highest monthly figure ever recorded by any customs command in the country.

The landmark performance underscores Apapa’s central role in Nigeria’s maritime economy and highlights the impact of ongoing reforms in port operations, revenue enforcement, and digital trade processes.

Customs authorities say the new record reflects heightened compliance by importers, increased cargo throughput, and improved operational efficiency propelled by data-driven risk management and automation of key procedures. Efforts to curb smuggling, block leakages, and enforce accurate duty declarations have also strengthened the command’s revenue position.

Stakeholders in the maritime sector note that the achievement comes despite global economic pressures and fluctuating trade flows, describing it as a signal of growing confidence in Nigeria’s port environment and a boost to the Government's non-oil revenue drive.

Port analysts believe the milestone aligns with Nigeria'swider objective of modernizing customs administration, enhancing border security, and improving trade facilitation to support economic diversification.

The Apapa Command has, in recent months, intensified collaboration with other government agencies and terminal operators to streamline cargo clearance processes while maintaining strict compliance checks to ensure transparent and accountable trade operations.

With this achievement, Apapa Customs has raised performance expectations across the service and reinforced its position as Nigeria’s busiest and most strategic revenue-generating command. Industry observers say sustaining this momentum will require continued investment in port infrastructure, technology, and capacity development to support the increasing volume of trade activities.

The historic N304 billion collection represents a significant stride in the nation’s revenue mobilization efforts and sets a new benchmark in customs efficiency and economic governance.
