Eko International Film Festival 2016

The annual Eko International Film Festival (EKOIFF) is Nigeria’s leading international film festival in the city of Lagos in southwestern Nigeria.

The seventh edition of the Festival would be holding from the 24th to 29th of October 2016.

The mission of Eko International Film Festival is to promote the appreciation of Arts and Culture through the motion picture arts and sciences as well as increase tourism in the global village and as such this years Festival would be showcasing long and short feature films, documentaries, narratives, independent film screenings, pitch panels, workshops, master classes, and special presentations. This would be rounded off with a Gala Night /Awards reception and closing ceremony.

According to the Founder / President of the Festival , Hope. O. Opara, ''EKOIFF will promote the country’s economy and Lagos State tourism potential. It will put Lagos and Nigeria on the world map, as international centre for Arts and global Film market, aside creating opportunities for filmmakers across the globe to exchange ideas, promote culture of different continents and leverage on co-productions and distribution. Stakeholders that are not filmmakers would see the festival as avenue to sell or buy content that would improve their services''.

The Lagos State Government has endorsed the Festival and this collaboration is in line with its vision of making Lagos State the hub of entertainment not only in the West African sub-region but the entire Africa at large.
