Professor Ogechi Adeola has been named Rwanda's highest-ranked researcher in Business and Management in the 2026 AD Scientific Index, a recognition that also places the Nigerian academic among the Top 10 Scientists in Rwanda. The latest ranking reinforces the growing presence of Nigerian scholars in shaping research and academic excellence across the continent.
Proffesor Adeola serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Enterprise) at the University of Kigali, where she has built a reputation for advancing research, innovation and institutional scholarship. The latest honour acknowledges the impact of her work and the influence it continues to have within the academic community.
The achievement comes on the heels of another major international distinction when in 2025, she was named among the Stanford–Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists, placing her in a select group of researchers whose scholarly contributions have earned global recognition for their sustained impact.
In a statement, the University of Kigali said the honour recognises Professor Adeola's unwavering commitment to research, innovation and academic leadership. The institution added that her work demonstrates how high-quality scholarship can expand knowledge while providing practical responses to societal challenges.
The university also noted that her research has strengthened its international profile and made significant contributions to scholarship in Rwanda, across Africa and within the wider global academic community.
Professor Adeola's latest recognition was conferred through the AD Scientific Index, a global ranking that measures the scientific performance and research impact of more than 2.6 million researchers across 24,000 institutions in 221 countries. The index recognises scientists whose body of work has demonstrated consistent academic influence over time.
