The statement also conveyed the congratulations of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Riliwan Disu, who applauded Corporal Nathaniel for raising both the Nigerian flag and that of the Nigeria Police Force on the international stage. According to the IGP, the athlete's accomplishment should inspire officers across every command to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
Beyond celebrating one athlete's success, the Police leadership pointed to the victory as evidence of its broader investment in sports development. The Force said Nathaniel's gold medal aligns with the IGP's Strategic Agenda on Police Sports Development, Personnel Welfare and Capacity Building, adding that structured institutional support has helped create an environment where talented officers can excel in international competitions.
The Force reaffirmed that, under the current leadership, it remains committed to identifying, nurturing and supporting athletic talent within its ranks.
