LAGOS HARPS ON QUALITY EDUCATION


Lagos State Government has reiterated its determination to continue to strive for the attainment of high standard in the education sector as this is the major catalyst for national development throughout the world.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo, who made the remark at the ongoing 8th edition of Lagos Book Expo organised by the Lagos State Television, stated that developed nations all over the world paid greater attention to their educational service delivery system hence the need for Nigeria to do so as well.

Represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resource in the Ministry, Mrs. Omolara Akin-Aderibigbe, the Permanent Secretary noted that all laudable initiatives of the State Government are not only aimed at improving the learning process and environment in the education sector, but are also geared toward building the capacity of staff in order to deliver quality services to its teeming populace.

She lauded the initiative of the organizers of the Book Expo at reviving the reading culture of students and for offering opportunity for books to be purchased at discounted rates by Lagosians.

While urging all residents in the State to see this 8th edition of the Lagos Book Expo as an opportunity to increase their libraries and books collection at affordable cost, the Permanent Secretary implored all Lagosians to take advantage of the Expo to acquire more knowledge by improving on their reading culture for personal development.

The 2015 Book Expo, themed “Information: Tool for Development and Advancement”, serves as a forum for publishers, booksellers, educationists, parents, students and all stakeholders in the education sector to interact and exchange ideas.
